The Koya population is mostly spread out in the southern region of India, particularly in the states of Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh (India). In Andhra Pradesh, they live especially in West Godavari, East Godavari, Khammam and Warangal districts and are sparsely found in Adilabad and Karimnagar districts.
Rat meat is their staple food, once they catch the rats they open its body from bottom and clean all the stomach. Later they pierce into iron rods and top of the hearths for natural baking for a month or one and half. They consume it along with their food or eat when they take local made alcohol.
The field was done during my ethnographic collection a few years back.
